JOB TITLE: Structural Design Engineer (Staff & Senior)

LOCATION: Houston, TX (Including Hybrid)

Qualified candidates may work from their US home location and travel monthly to the Houston project office.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a highly motivated Structural Design Engineer to take on a critical role within our team. Depending on experience, candidates may be considered for a Senior Structural Design Engineer role, which comes with increased responsibilities. You will provide essential technical expertise and leadership, ensuring that all project phases are executed with precision. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead or contribute to the design, development, and review of structural engineering specifications, including calculations for concrete, steel, and foundation designs.
  • Analyze complex structural problems and provide independent recommendations for technical solutions.
  • Develop and check engineering designs using hand calculations, as well as software such as STAAD, STAADPro, and RISA3D.
  • Provide technical support during procurement activities, including the preparation of scopes of work and evaluation of vendor bids.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and addressing field changes.
  • Ensure all work is executed in compliance with project quality standards and adheres to approved scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and provide coordination for technical issues with project management, clients, and vendors.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Proficiency with structural design software such as STAAD, STAAD Pro, RISA3D, and Mathcad.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes, including DOE orders.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including project management, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Experience providing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services on large industrial or government projects.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer and software skills (MS Office suite, CAD, etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Ability to perform intermediate complexity engineering assignments under supervision.
  • Proficiency in designing systems for large industrial or commercial projects.
  • Experience performing structural analysis and modeling, including wind and seismic loading considerations.

Qualifications for Senior Structural Design Engineer:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Experience performing advanced complexity engineering assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising other engineers and designers.
  • Significant experience managing large EPC projects and leading multi-discipline design teams.
  • Proficiency with project setup, control schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with structural design for nuclear facilities, including knowledge of ASME NQA-1 standards.
  • Experience in the design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear or government facilities.
  • Field experience in construction or large project implementation.
  • Practical experience in dynamic analysis, blast design, and modeling of complex structures.

As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits such as medical, dental and vision, and the company matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. Compensation for this position is hourly ($60-80) based on experience, background, and skills.
